Animation and the Body

I'm taking a class this semester taught by Maija Burnett, called Animation and the Body. I really enjoyed making these images, because most of what we do in our classes aim for a finished product. I wanted to bring back some of the 'process' I worked with when I was doing fine arts. My subject was Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda.

So our task was to first render the animated character of choice, looking for interesting body language/facial expressions. Then we reinterpreted these body shapes in a separate drawing. I used ballpoint pen on watercolor paper, then watercolor, and a creative(rubbish?) pass through Photoshop. but hey, are there any images that do not these days?

I'm satisfied. :)
